Julie Cooper

I am a Licensed Master’s-level Social Worker with 19 years of experience in the field. I completed my undergraduate studies with a focus on psychology in 2004, followed by a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver in 2006. Over the years, I’ve provided therapeutic services to individuals, families, children, and couples across various settings. My work has ranged from offering emotional and behavioral support to parents and children in residential and school environments to transitioning into private practice as both a therapist and clinical supervisor.

I firmly believe that a therapeutic space conducive to healing and growth is built on the foundation of a strong, trusting relationship between therapist and client. This connection—grounded in mutual respect and understanding—helps us navigate the complexities life often presents.

As humans, we have an innate ability to grow, adapt, and elevate ourselves—especially when we’re supported, motivated, and willing to put in the work. Along the way, we sometimes develop patterns or coping mechanisms that once served us but no longer support our well-being. In these moments, having someone walk beside us can offer the guidance we need to get “unstuck” and move forward on our journey.

I practice with a trauma-informed approach and utilize a variety of evidence-based modalities, such as Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, the Gottman Method, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and somatic and mindfulness-based practices.

Clients accepted: adults, children ages 12+, families and couples.

I specialize in:

  • Relationships

I’ll help you explore and understand the patterns that shape your relationships—starting with attachment styles, communication skills, and the relationship you have with yourself.

Attachment styles are formed early in life and continue to influence how we relate to others as adults. By identifying and addressing attachment-related challenges, we can work toward creating more secure and fulfilling connections.

We’ll build healthy communication skills that foster mutual respect, understanding, and empathy. Effective communication is essential for resolving conflicts, building trust, and ensuring that both you and your partner feel heard and valued.

I emphasize the importance of connecting with your authentic self. Strengthening this inner connection enhances self-awareness and self-compassion, which in turn improves how you engage with others. Therapy offers a safe space to explore emotions, set boundaries, and gain insight into your desires and needs—all of which contribute to healthier, more balanced relationships.

Together, we’ll develop practical strategies and emotional tools that support not only stronger relationships with others but also a deeper, more loving relationship with yourself.

  • Trauma

Trauma affects more than just the mind—it can leave deep imprints within the body, often manifesting as physical tension, chronic pain, or emotional blocks. At the heart of healing is the integration of the mind-body connection. Through this process, we work together to understand how past experiences have shaped your current reality, helping you recognize and release limiting beliefs that may be holding you back from fully embracing your potential.

By addressing both the emotional and physical aspects of trauma, we create a safe, supportive space for healing. This holistic approach enables you to reconnect with your true self, empowering you to release old patterns, build emotional resilience, and move forward with a sense of peace and clarity. Whether you're navigating past trauma or seeking to break free from deeply rooted negative beliefs, together we’ll cultivate a path toward lasting healing and meaningful growth.

  • Parenting Support

As a therapist, I provide compassionate guidance and support to help you navigate the complexities of raising children. I work collaboratively with your family, offering practical tools to promote emotional well-being and build strong, healthy relationships. Drawing on evidence-based approaches, I help create nurturing, respectful environments where children can thrive.

Whether you’re seeking strategies to manage challenging behaviors, foster emotional regulation, or strengthen your bond with your child, I offer personalized support tailored to your family’s unique needs. Together, we’ll explore practical techniques to enhance communication, set healthy boundaries, and build emotional resilience—for both parents and children.

  • Anxiety & Depression

I’ll help you manage anxiety and depression by addressing the root causes of your emotional distress. Through a combination of therapeutic techniques, we’ll work to create structured routines, develop effective coping strategies, and build resilience. Together, we’ll identify and detach from intrusive thoughts, challenge negative thinking patterns, and transform self-destructive behaviors into healthier, more adaptive responses.

I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you can explore your emotions and learn practical tools to regain control of your mental well-being. With tailored support, we’ll focus on fostering self-compassion, enhancing emotional regulation, and cultivating a more balanced approach to life’s challenges.
